The short version

We keep what TermOwl needs to work, and nothing else.
We never sell your data or show ads.
You can delete your account and everything in it, any time, on the Account page.

Your account: your email address and a sign-in password (stored scrambled by our sign-in provider, never readable by us).
Your planner: your classes, assignments, due dates, notes, and the settings you choose. If you link Canvas, the link is stored encrypted and is never shown to anyone. If you use the Chrome extension, it sends your assignments to your account and nowhere else.
Study tools: what you upload to "Study a reading" and the study sets made from it.
Payments: if you buy Plus, Stripe handles your card. We never see or store card numbers. We keep only Stripe's customer and subscription ids and when your Plus ends.
Technical logs: short-lived server logs (for example, errors) used to keep the site running.

These companies run parts of TermOwl for us and only see what that part needs:

Supabase: our database and sign-in.
Render: the servers that run the website.
Anthropic: reads the files you choose to upload in "Study a reading" (Plus) and writes the study material. Only that file's content is sent, only when you ask.
Stripe: takes payments for Plus.

We don't sell or rent your information to anyone, and we share it with others only if the law requires it.

Delete everything: Account page, "Delete my account". It removes your planner, your saved Canvas link and your study sets, and stops any subscription.

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and remember your look and theme. No advertising or tracking cookies.

TermOwl is for college students 18 and over.

TermOwl is an independent project. It is not made by, or affiliated with, Instructure or Canvas.

If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app first.
